Guangzhou Restaurant
Posted by ebrenchley (572 days ago)
I had two seperate meals at the restaurant in Tianhe. They were both involving a wedding. The first meal was a pre-wedding meal about a week before and the food was delicious. Really great. Surprisingly, when we returned for the wedding, the food provided was WAY below par for the price they charged per table. I guess if you go with a small group, no problem, but if you're in an event, maybe look elsewhere...

I've been to the one south of the River. I was disappointed. My friend who was with me, who is from GZ, thought it was terrible food and overpriced. There was one dish in which she thought the shellfish smelled questionable, and after I sniffed it I agreed. We went at lunch time. In addition, the wait-staff continually had to be asked for everything.

been once to the one by the river, and thoroughly dissapointed. The waiting staff have no sense of service (this could be a general chinese thing though!!). We asked for a vegetable dish and they recommended something that actually had no vegetables in, we ordered a soup dish, they said we had to order a min. of 4. We asked if that was too much and they said no. When it arrived it was 4 big soups with a crust on the top!! Oh dear. When we argued the point (in chinese) the woman serving us dissapeared replaced by a manager type woman who was about as helpful as a wet blanket. I mean, the woman who served us had no common sense, then they blamed it all on us!! Anyway, there are SO MANY good dim sum places, and this "famous" place seems to have got a little too big for its boots!!
