restaurants by Pearl River/Shamian Island

Hi,

Can anyone recommend a nice european restaurant by the river or on the island? Preferably less expensive and more intimate/romantic atmosphere than white swan hotel. Also rough cost of meal for 2 would be really helpful.

La Seine on Er Sha Dao next to Xinhua music hall is a good option if you're looking to impress. Prices should be less than the white swan (700 for 2 -- no wine). The place is impressive, but the food is average.

Thanks for the advice, although 700 for average food does not sound to good!!

came to GZ last weekend and ended up going to the rose garden on shamian island. Food was simple but good, service was distinctely average - even for chinese standards. location is really good and cannot complain about the price. 222RMB for 2 including bottle of house red!! definately recommend for a lazy evening of outdoor eating and drinking.
