I recently tried the new Turkish Barbeque restaurant called Sultan which is right beside the Friendship Store on Huanshi Dong Lu. I highly recommend it. The best hummus, baba ganouch, fettouch, tabouli, kebabs, etc etc that I've had in GZ, and for reasonable prices. About 45 RMB for a kebab platter, about 18 - 25 for a salad. There are also daily specials that are delicious. No alcohol is allowed.

Yes, a friend introduced me to this restaurant - and we love the food. Service is also very friendly, ask for Wilma, she is wonderful, regular customers are remembered and made to feel special.
We have been there when there was a buffet option available. Didn't try it though as we have our a la carte faves.
You might be able to bring your own alcohol and sit in one of the booths with the curtains shut ... give them a ring to see if that is an option.

We tried this resto last night. Agree with all the reviews. Loved the shawarma and kebabs. Hummus and freshly baked bread were simply the best. My 2 year old son loved it as well!

do you have exact address of the restaurant? Where is that Friendship Store in HuanshiDongLu? Close to the Garden Hotel?

My wife and I had such a bad experience with Ottoman that we were simply skeptical about other Turkish restaurants in GZ. But now I see from Kmom that Sultan has shawarmas, my mouth waters. Will try this place soon.

Best Shawarmas are served in a kebab place (can't remember the name of the place)on Edgware Road in London, UK, near Marble Arch end. Anyone in the vicinity must go and try, especially the chicken ones.

Well, I recently had a so-so experience at lunch. My kebab was dried out, tabouleh was not perfect. But, I've had so many good experiences there that I hope it was just a bad day for them.

the salad is Ok...ya ya... but once the meat is on the desk, you don't see the salad anymore!

We went here last night. Excellent service, excellent food and nice surroundings. Recommended!

Meiguoren came in to get take out while we were there.

It was full of Middle Eastern men eating huge amounts of food.

The cigarette smoke was a bit off-putting.

did u ever try ORIENT PALACE , it's huge and with very nice atmoshpere and deco , food is really had specialty of syrian culture , it's syrian restaurant , just have ur dinner and watch the world cup match with the huge screen

That's true.I strongly recommend the Orient Palace. When the first time i went there with my friends, i was so attracted to the traditional syrian food and their traditional syrian drink. They are so delicious and special. It's said that it's the first syrian restaurant in Guangzhou.And i like the environment there, the decoration and the lights etc.
great syrian food,no alcohol allowed.

Went to Sultan yesterday with girlfriend for lunch.
Agree with Meiguoren, I highly recommend Sultan, good food and the cleanliness of the place is satisfying to warrant future visit with hubby and friends.
It was freezing cold when we came in, we were the first, but after the yummy appetizer all is forgotten.
Hubby ate leftover.
