Shrimp Fishing
Posted by depresso (702 days ago)
Although perhaps not strictly a 'restaurant' as such, i've had lots of fun 'shrimp fishing' at various hole-in-the-ground locations around guangzhou. Problem is it's been ages and the ones i used to know all seem to be closed now. Can anyone provide any addresses, phone numbers, or specific directions to any of these shrimp fisheries? You know the ones i mean? pay 8 kuai per hour to sit around what is more or less an in-ground swimming pool which they periodically dump live shrimp into. then let the hours roll by, rod in hand, waiting for a shrimp or 2 to bite and then be barbequed before ultimately passing through ones digestive system. any leads? not your typical 'best restaurant in guangzhou' post, i know, but i'd certainly appreciate any any help in this matter

Hi hon!
There used to be an awesome place in Macau, but the last time I was there it was being renovated. It was right by Pousada de Mong Ha.
Good luck!
cheers from Ruth

Jeez, only 1 response and ...thanks ruth but an evening in macau doesn't make for quite as inexpensive an evening as sitting around some dirty hole in GZ does. i may have a good lead on where one is now anyways but the lack of responses to this post makes me instantly bitter so i'm refusing to post the location here.

Ahhh, don't waste time being bitter, honey. Most people on this site haven't even HEARD of doing this. I mean, how many expats have you seen doing the fishing thing?
So, maybe you'll start a new trend!

There is one at Binjiang Lu, actually it is near the wet market.
Will try to find the complete address.
