hospitals, healthcare in guangzhou
Posted by Peter25 (626 days ago)
hello friends, I have queries about hospitals & health care in guangzhou. My uncle wants to move to guangzhou. But he really needs to have regular checkups for his health. He has got several complications & needs constant supervision for Diabities, Blood pressure & some neurological issues. So can he get to see specialist doctors at local hospitals easily? What kind of cost would it be or he would have to go in private. What kind of per visit fee a specialist doctor charges there. Is there any website that gives some detailed information about such things. Thanks for yr help.

Does he speak Chinese? There are loads of hospitals in GZ, but the trick is finding a doctor who will understand your uncle and his problems and agree to continue treatment that he is already one. Doctors in China have a god complex...they think they are high and mighty and you will have problems asking them questions, even if you do understand Chinese.
You must pay before you have any treatment in most cases. Prices can be cheap or expensive, depending on whether they think you are a rich foreigner or not. Telling them you are 'only' a teacher can often make the price go down.
Many hospitals in GZ specialize in different illnesses.
Here's some prices for treatments I had in GZ at Clifford Hospital, arguably the best private hospital in the region.
My daughter had a bad cold. She saw a ped doc and was given 4 different meds, both western and Chinese traditional. Cost 4 years ago? 50 rmb
I fell off my bike 2 years ago and split open my chin. A very good doc in emergency skilfully sewed up my chin and it cost 300 rmb or so. You can't even see the scar now.
Good luck!
